FIFTY by US is a collaborative co-founded in 2009 by Jonathan Mergele, Sean Daly and Fairfax Dorn. We are an all around production team drawing upon varied backgrounds in film, advertising, curating, marketing, and event production. We function as your creative think-tank to help realize projects with artistic, eco-driven perspective that converge dynamic experiences and environments. Whether it is a small or large event, innovative brand development, or product design, FIFTY by US strives to foster the creative alternative in lieu of the normal, routine solution.
Principal - eTTa designs
Rachel is Principal of the eco-friendly interior design firm eTTa designs, an Allied member of ASID, and a Certified Green Building Professional. In 2008, she received an International Design Award and was heralded as “one(s) to watch” by ASID Icon magazine. Rachel has 15 years of experience in various creative disciplines, including studies at Boston Architectural Center and UCLA Arc_ID, and working at prestigious firms like Michael S. Smith, Inc. In 2007, she started eTTa designs and completed projects like an eco-luxe spa, presidential suite, an eco-friendly nail salon, and a green residential renovation. In addition, Rachel contributes to the design community in various ways including presenting at Dwell on Design and teaching students as a Guest Critic at a UCLA Arc_ID Design Studio.
Interior Designer - Gensler
Edgardo is a licensed architect in Peru and certified interior designer in USA. In his 8 years of experience in Architecture and 5 plus years in Interiors, he has worked on projects at every stage as a member of the Hospitality Interiors team in Gensler's Los Angeles office. He was an integral part of the team that designed the AIA award winning Club Nokia @ LA live, the guest experience at Arclight Cinemas in Pasadena, Eagle Lodge Ski Resort in Mammoth, California, Konjiam Resort in Korea, Disney animation Suites in Orlando, Warner Brother hotel in Abu Dhabi and others around the world. Edgardo's passion for design and the environment has led him to have a more sustainable approach to his projects and lifestyle, He is currently an active member of the Interior Design Advisory board at Long Beach City College.
Design Director - Gensler
Since joining Gensler in 2006, Shawn has become an integral member of our multi- disciplinary studio, bringing design and technical expertise to some of Gensler’s most significant new projects. His recent work ranges from a 13,000-square-foot private home to the newly completed 2,000,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences at LA LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles. Shawn’s previous experience as lead designer with BNIM, a highly respected sustainable design firm, fueled his passion for and exploration of emerging materials and technologies, and reinforced his commitment to designing for a fragile environment.
Architectural Designer - Gensler
Audrey Handelman has been working with Gensler's entertainment, retail, and hospitality group for over 6 years. She has worked a variety of projects including a city master plan and amusement park near Beijing, Ashes and Snow Nomadic Museum, Helio retail stores, Arclight Sherman Oaks and Pasadena, hotel and resort designs, along with several church projects. Her strengths lie in creating dynamic and relevant designs that are conscious of their impact on many scales - from the end user to the community to the environment. She is LEED accredited and a leader of the Sustainable Design task force, working to incorporate sustainable practices into all projects. Outside of her love for architecture, design, and the environment, she is an avid rock climber and big sister with the Big Brother Big Sister Los Angeles chapter.
Elias (Ely) Hesse
Designer - Gensler
He started with Gensler may of 2011 in the Hospitality Studio after Graduating and completing an internship there. He is now a part of the Retail Studio at Gensler's Los Angeles office. Prior to Gensler he was at WgDesign Studio working on various commercial and residential projects in both Architecture and Interiors. His experience includes working with the Serra Project in Long Beach and the Rathana Buddhist Center in Anaheim.
Principal - Gensler
Irwin Miller is a Principal and Director of the Retail Studio at the Gensler Los Angeles office. He also acts as a Retail Practice Area Leader for the firm. Noteworthy projects include MGM Mirage CityCenter Sales Office in Las Vegas, The Nomadic Museum in Santa Monica and Majestic Cruises flagship vessel based in Curacao. Irwin leads collaborative and dynamic teams that deal with the application of new technologies, media and user experience in retail environments. He holds bachelor of arts and bachelor of architecture degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and a masters of architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design.
Environmental Graphic Designer - Gensler
His focus is communication on a grand scale and Alan has been developing environments that convey the big idea for 18 years. As part of Gensler's contribution to Opportunity Green he applies his multi disciplinary experience to the goal of creating the most effective forum for a dialogue that expands the role that Green plays in Opportunity today. Alan's completed projects include CityCenter in Las Vegas -- the worlds largest LEED certified development to date -- and currently he is working on Microsoft Stores around the globe which are also all LEED certified.
Interior Designer, LEED AP - Gensler
Kathleen is a LEED AP with a solid interior and architectural background and retail, restaurant, sports entertainment, commercial and residential experience. She loves working together with the diverse and creative Opportunity Green team, and is inspired by their similar aesthetic ideas and sustainable design philosophies.
