Here are some of the highlights at Barneys New York on Fashion’s Night Out in NYC on Sept. 10, 2009.  The “Who’s Who” of New York fashion were out and celebrating the new Fall season, supporting the fashion industry – the second largest industry next to finance in NYC, and enjoying themselves with the help of some champagne, food, and celebrity eye candy.

Eco friendly label Loomstatewas on site on the Barneys Contemporary floor painting on their unique motifs inspired by natural elements. Loomstate is committed to using certified organic cotton and using socially and environmentally responsible methods of production to make their cool, slim-fitting t-shirts.

One of the more interesting booths on the Contemporary floor, was Hudson Valley Seed Library, a homestead-based farm and business devoted to developing a seed production network in the Northeast region. Founder Ken Greene (photo below) was giving out various seed packets that are normally for sale and explaining the negative impact the unusually high levels of rain has had in the spread of blight on our plants this year.

Later on in the evening, I went downtown to drop in on the Vogue Alumni House at Bellhaus. Contemporary designers such as Gryphon, Duskin, and Thread Social, whose founders were all ex-members of Vogue magazine were hosting a party alongside Brad Goreski from the Bravo reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project. The shop at the Bellhaus space partnered up with the Billy Reid and Rogan boutiques to host a block party of downtown cool.

Hope you enjoyed the highlights from the event. Fashion’s Night Out was a blast and a great way for the fashion community to support one another during these uncertain times! Hooray for Mayor Bloomberg, Anna Wintour, the CFDA and NYC & Company, and of course, the City of New York!
