Elizabeth Barry, LEED AP ID+C serves as Chief Sustainability Officer for Marsh & McLennan Companies. As Chief Sustainability Officer, Ms. Barry is responsible for the development, implementation and integration of operational efficiency strategies. In this capacity, she is charged with building an enterprise sustainability program, encompassing real estate, technology, procurement and corporate travel, as well as focusing on addressing revenue generation components in brand integrity and additional service offerings. Over the past four years, Ms. Barry has developed an expertise in the creation and implementation of sustainability strategies at the corporate level. With over 52,000 colleagues spanning four operating companies globally, the complexity of designing and delivering an industry-leading sustainability strategy across Marsh & McLennan Companies has been a tremendous success story. As a result of Ms. Barry’s strong leadership in this area, Marsh & McLennan Companies has significantly expanded their public disclosure on sustainability, achieving a commendable ranking of 78th in the Newsweek 2010 Green Rankings of the 500 largest U.S. companies, scoring eighth out of 39 entries in the Banks and Insurance sector. Ms. Barry has a unique combination of managerial, financial, operational and business acumen. Her in- depth experience providing leadership and innovation to complex organizations is well recognized by executives and operational professionals alike. She has a proven track record for designing strategic approaches while leveraging analytical, organizational and problem solving skills to deliver a competitive advantage to growth-oriented companies. Her career spans 10 years in executive management at Marsh& McLennan Companies with an additional 10 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies such as Deloitte & Touche and CNA Insurance. Ms. Barry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Sociology from Albion College.
