Sustainability Consultant, Advisor and VisionaryJohn Picard is a renowned environmental builder and technologist. He began his career in sustainability in the late 1980’s, as one of the first to apply green construction standards to the residential home market. Almost overnight, John became recognized nationally for the design and construction of his own self-sufficient solar houses, his natural systems approach to engineering, and revolutionary concepts for energy-efficiency and business strategy.
Today, he now is widely regarded as one of the preeminent environmental consultants in North America. His innovative application of green principals has brought success and profitability to many clients, including Virgin, eBay, Siemens, BP, Ford, MGM, Gap, Interface, Earthpark, Live Earth and Atlantic Station.
In 1992, John played a leading role in the Greening of the White House under President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, which later evolved into the U.S. Green Building Council. As a corporate mentor, John champions the new geo-industrial movement of ecological commerce. John’s work in the energy, manufacturing, technology, and real estate development sectors is credited with helping to popularize the life-cycle model of business stewardship. Most essentially, everywhere John goes, he galvanizes executive, employee, and consumer activism – a core driver of brand loyalty and growth – in the new green economy.
Picard has been extensively published in major trade publications and books, and is also a regular keynote speaker for Fortune 500 companies, universities and technology events. He is the recipient of many awards and certificates of honor and merit in the fields of engineering, energy and environmental science.
