Kevin Wall founded Control Room in 2005 as a vehicle to deliver his vision for a network of the future – live entertainment accessible to anyone, anywhere at anytime. As founder and CEO, Wall drives the company’s strategy, programming, distribution and business development, making the vision a reality.
Most recently, Wall founded Live Earth, the 24-hour, 7-continent concert series taking place on July 7, 2007. Inspired by the documentary An Inconvenient Truth, Wall dreamed up a worldwide music event that could deliver an urgent and hopeful global warming message to billions of people across all media platforms. In less than a year, Wall put in place a global media architecture, enlisted over 150 headlining artists to perform, and has formed a strong partnership with Gore and his organization, the Alliance for Climate Protection. Live Earth broke existing television and online audience records while awakening social consciousness surrounding the climate crisis.
His history in music promotion and production, live television, the Internet, and venture capitalist investments in convergence technologies positioned him for such achievements as Emmy award-winning executive producer of Live 8, one the largest live broadcasts in history. Wall’s legacy as an innovator is well-known in the entertainment community and demonstrated throughout his 30-year career discovering, developing and promoting live music shows, including Bob Dylan’s “30th Anniversary Concert Celebration” featuring Eric Clapton, George Harrison and 50 additional artists at Madison Square Garden, Michael Jackson’s “The Dangerous Tour” live in Bucharest for HBO and "The Wall: Live in Berlin 1990." His other credits include specials for (the artist formerly known as) Prince, Eric Clapton, and Elton John as well as record-breaking worldwide distribution of "3 Tenors Live in Concert 1994" and "Amnesty International: Human Rights Now" concerts. Wall has delivered more than 350 live events across multiple entertainment platforms.
As the former Vice-Chairman of iXL, a global Internet consulting firm, Wall led the strategic acquisition and organization of 42 Internet design and consulting companies to build a venture with 3,000 employees, 38 offices and annual revenues of over $400 million. He is a co-founder of Shelter Capital Partners, a $175 million VC fund, currently invested in 12 companies in the semiconductor, software and convergence sectors.
Early in his career, he established the first portable staging company, Stage One Inc., to accommodate the staging, lighting, and outdoor production needs of large stadium and arena concert tours by The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Who, to name a few.
